Balance Power are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity within our dynamic and forward-thinking Design function as a Design Assistant. As a member of the Planning and Design Team, you will provide support and design solutions to the development of battery storage and solar energy generation projects from their initial identification through to ‘planning achieved’ and beyond. Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

- Initial viability assessments of potential development sites utilising spatial design work

- To create & modify high-quality, scaled plans, elevations & sections for design development and planning submission

- To liaise with both internal & external teams to understand project requirements & provide design advice

- To conduct site visits and surveys as and when required

- Present working drawings for use at all project stages

- Develop and maintain financial models

- Ownership of data-books

- Linking of departmental working/ partnering

- Liaison with internal and external stakeholders to ensure inputs are always as accurate and up to date as possible

- Utilisation of external modelling data and maintenance of industry data points

- ‘Soft’ soundings / general relationships with financing routes, investors etc. to maintain CoC data and provide additional potential opportunities.

- Support wider team in assessing model sensitivities and ensuring hurdles are met

- Work with Operations and Process Teams to ensure all opportunities have a commercial consideration (as well as deliverable side)

- Looking at ways of maximising our current portfolio through commercially led improvements

- Understand PPAs and keep our offering market effective, pushing projects with PPAs to meet higher IRRs at the request of Head of Commercial

- Keep up to date with market trends on technology, RTM etc. providing input and updates to Head of Commercial

The main role of the connections team is to provide support and solutions to the development of Battery storage and Solar generation projects from initial connection investigation & feasibility through to Ready to Build status. You will work alongside the connections and development team looking into active projects and providing assistance where required conducting initial viability assessments of potential development sites for grid connected schemes through technical analysis and engineer discussions.

Submission of grid applications to the relevant DNO / ESO for both Battery Storage & Solar Generation schemes (includes G99 application forms, DRC forms, Budget requests, Single Line Diagrams) will be within your scope so a good understanding of these documents would be beneficial (format and technical elements). The subsequent managing of projects assigned to yourself and responsibility for liaising with both internal and external parties to progress the schemes through each stage of the process will be imperative.

As well as this you will also provide technical solutions for both grid connected and private wire schemes; work alongside ICPs to ensure delivery of these schemes and arrange site visits; Complete G99 and DRC forms for all new connections both private and standalone (grid connected) and undertake technical analysis on the DNO networks to find new target areas for grid connected schemes.

The main role of the accounts team is to provide support and solutions to the wider Balance Power team to aid development of Battery storage and Solar generation projects. You will work alongside the Financial Controller along with the project team to to facilitate smoother operations of processes and payments, undertaking the following tasks:

  • Processing accurals and prepayments
  • Working on monthly management reports and VAT reports
  • Completing areas of sales ledge and credit control
  • Purchase ledger processing
  • Administration of company accounts
  • Daily EXCEL input to a cashflow forecast
  • Posting bank transactions
  • Monthly presentations alongside the Financial Controller

The role will be varied and plays an integral part in ensuring the day-to-day activities of the business (and its personnel) run smoothly. The successful applicant will be required to act as Executive Assistant (EA) to the (CEO) which will involve general secretarial tasks and diary management. Additional office support to the wider team will also be required.

  • Diary management for CEO
  • Meeting minutes for wider team
  • Organisation of multiple diaries
  • General upkeep of office and ordering of IT equipment
  • Maintenance of office records in relation to H&S
